Im Hause der Familie Finley geschieht Seltsames: Tochter Samantha hat Nacht für Nacht gruselige Träume. Türen krachen, der Fernsehapparat schaltet sich von selbst an und komische Geräusche sind zu hören. Als diese Dinge jedoch auch passieren als sie wach ist, bekommt es Samantha mit der Angst zu tun. Ihre Eltern Thomas und Ellen engagieren einen Profi für paranormale Aktivitäten. Edgar Lauren versucht den Geist zu filmen, was sich als schwieriger erweist als gedacht. Unterdessen werden die Ereignisse dramatischer. Es tauchen blutige Fußspuren auf, und Samantha wird nackt in der Badewanne von dem Geist heimgesucht- denn er will nur sie.
