Eine erfolgreiche Reporterin führt ein Doppelleben: nachts arbeitet sie für ein Skandalblatt, tagsüber für den Bürgermeister von New York. Als sie einen jungen Fotografen engagiert, von dem sie für ihre beiden Beschäftigungen profitieren will, kann sie ihr Doppelspiel zunächst zwar weiter betreiben. Erst als sie eine Reportage über eine Orgie in einem Nachtclub beginnt, eskalieren nach einem Überfall die Ereignisse.
