A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum

Im antiken Rom sinnt der listige Sklave Pseudolus nach einer Möglichkeit, seine lang ersehnte Freiheit zu erlangen. Als sein Gebieter Senex und dessen Frau Domina für längere Zeit verreisen, sieht er seine Chance gekommen. Da er weiß, dass Senex Sohn Hero in die Sklavin Philia verliebt ist, verspricht er ihm das Mädchen, wenn er im Gegenzug dazu seine Freiheit bekommt. Doch Senex kommt früher als erwartet zurück und löst eine Folge von Verwechslungen aus.
